10×5: Art & Disability An Artist Talk 2020

Sandy Scofield

Sandy Scofield is a multiple award-winning Métis (Cree, Saulteaux and French) songwriter, performer, composer and educator based in Vancouver.  She has travelled numerous places around the world performing her work such as Borneo, Korea, Australia and several other international locales.

Sandy has won several awards for her work including a WCMA, CFMA and three Juno nominations. She holds an undergrad degree, which includes studies in African music at the University of Ghana in west Africa, in music composition. She is releasing her 6th studio recording in winter of 2020. Her work embraces both traditional expression and contemporary song, some in the Cree language under the mentorship of elders who are language speakers. Sandy acknowledges that she lives on the unceded traditional land of the Coast Salish peoples of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm, Skwxwú7mesh, and Səl̓ílwətaɬ Nations.
