Kickstart Disability Arts and Culture Workshop Series: Portfolio Development and Professionalism

January 12, 2019 from 1-3pm
The Gathering Place (609 Helmcken Street, Vancouver)

Facilitated by:
Yuri Arajs – Kickstart Disability Arts and Culture’s Artistic Director, and practicing artist.
Wendy D – Kickstart Disability Arts and Culture’s Board President, and practicing artist.

The world of galleries, curators, and the arts market can be daunting and confusing. There may be systems and codes of conducts one cannot fully understand without access to the information that is key to interacting with a professional arts environment. Helping to make the goals of artists living with disabilities a reality, Kickstart is providing a workshop that centers its focus on building portfolios as well as beginning or nurturing a relationship with the arts community. Facilitators will be open to answering the questions all artists have about engaging with artistic spaces and self-promotion within culture. This workshop is based on the important aspects of communication, driving one to become more confident about self-presentation and approaching opportunities. Free to members and pay what you can to the public, the goal is to make the arts more accessible, diverse and vibrant.

Free for Kickstart Members and The Gathering Place Members.
$10 for the General Public. Attendants are FREE, but require a ticket.

ASL Interpretation will be available.
The Gathering Place is a wheelchair accessible space.

To purchase advance tickets, go to Eventbrite.
