Glenn Hesse

Visual Arts: ,

Being diagnosed with major health issues which effects my day to day life. I took up painting as therapy, which helps me refocus to overcome my depression and physical issues.

My works fall under several genres such as social and contemporary realism cityscape and traditional landscape, surrealism and Science Fiction/fantasy. Mediums I use are mainly Acrylics, which allows me to use vast techniques that apply to my works. Creating my images comes from an idea that I’m interested in or subject matter that I start with a message that speaks to me. Living in Vancouver is a blend/juxtaposition of urbanism and nature which has helped inspire me to depict the social and environment of the city. Creating paintings that spark conversations on all levels provides me with the impetus to continue producing works of art.

The artists that influenced me are from all eras; such as the Renaissance to modern-day notably Salvador Dali, Jack Kirby, Norman Rockwell, Frank Frazetta, and Alex Ross.

For my process “It starts with a Blank Canvas”
