Murals Without Walls: Low Barrier Creative Workshops For Disabled Artists

Expansive, playful and low-barrier art-making in community – from wherever you can join us!

Kickstart Disability Arts & Culture presents 3 FREE digital low-barrier process-based creative art making workshops which prioritize participants who are living with disability.

Join artists Kay Slater + Wendy Oberlander as they host a series of guided workshops designed to explore The Self, encouraging artists to expand their unique creative process, supported by demonstrations, conversation and community.

Registration is limited to 25 participants
Spots are first come, first serve.

Live workshops will be hosted via Zoom with auto-captions in English, with ASL interpretation available.

Registration includes; one kit of supplies for the digital sessions.
Participants are also encouraged to incorporate materials readily available at home.
Kits will be available for Pick-Up (details to come) in a central location in Vancouver. No-contact delivery of Kits may be possible within Vancouver city limits to individuals who may experience barriers to in person pickup.
*please note: we are unable to provide kits to those outside of Vancouver Area however registrants can still participate using their own art supplies*

Following the workshops, participants will be invited to apply to a professional jury for a unique opportunity with The Vancouver Mural Festival, bringing original artwork to the streets of Vancouver in August 2021 during the 2021 Festival. *For this phase of the project, the selected Artists will be required to physically be in the Vancouver Area to execute the final piece for the festival. Individuals are not required to participated in the jury portion to attend the creative workshop portion*

Live Workshops Will Take Place:
June 16th, 17th & 18th 5:30pm – 7:00pm (PST)

Learn at your own pace, on your own schedule: participants who cannot make the evening sessions will have access to recorded workshops in spoken English with auto-generated captions.

Please note: participants will not be required to have their cameras on for personal privacy and comfort.
